After Jesus was baptized (last week lesson) beginning His ministry, Satan tempted Jesus.
Jesus was tempted 3 times in the wilderness, but relied on God’s truth to help him resist.
Jesus’ temptation is not primarily an example to be followed, but more a declaration of who Jesus is.
How can we resist temptation like Jesus to things that seem enticing or for our gain? (are the choices safe/harmful, will my choices glorify God and look out for the needs of others?, what is my motivation behind my choice?)
What does this story teach me about God? Myself? Others?
Even though Jesus never sinned, our power to resist temptation comes from Jesus.
We have hope even when we fail over and over because He was the perfect, sinless Savior.
Remember that if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive and cleanse us of all unrighteousness! (1 John 1:9)
