Online Advent Message and Prayer Gathering

Sunday, November 29 at 9:30 AM we’ll gather online for a short message about the special season of Advent and a time to pray together as a church.

On Sunday morning, you can go to kingscommunity.ch/advent on your computer or your favorite smart device and click on the link at the top of the page to join the meeting. Some things to consider for this Sunday: 

• When you enter the video chat you can choose whether you want to enable or disable your own video. Be mindful of possible distractions. Avoid multitasking. If you choose to use a web camera, make sure it’s in a stable position.

• It’s best practice to mute your microphone when you’re not speaking. When you join the meeting you can say “Hi” by typing in the chat feature so that multiple people aren’t trying to talk at once. (Our host will mute everyone but the speakers during the Advent reading and message.)

• When it’s time to pray, you are invited to join the conversation! The elders of the church will help guide our time of prayer. You’ll have the chance to speak your prayers, but if you’re not comfortable, that’s OK. There is a chat feature that we invite you to use to type your prayers or prayer requests if that’s more comfortable for you.

• What can you expect during the time of prayer? We’re going to pray prayers of adoration (“God you are _____.”), prayers of thanksgiving and gratitude (“God thank you for______.”), and we’re going to ask God for help and provision (“God would you please provide ______.”). Of course, our time isn’t limited to these types of prayers, but this might help prompt your thinking. Again you can type these in the chat if you’re more comfortable sharing that way. It’s important for us to pray with one another and for one another!
• What about kids? Remember, as a church we have different times with kids and for kids. This Sunday’s gathering is with kids. While we completely understand that every child is different, and many of our kids may have screen fatigue from remote educating, this is an opportunity for kids to see their parents and church family devoting themselves to the Word, prayer and one another. Prepare them for what Sunday will look like.

Kids are welcome to participate in the learning and the prayer. But even if they may not be able to sit through the gathering with you, we encourage you to ask your kids beforehand:
Is there anything you’d like to praise God for? …thank God for? …and ask God for? Share those prayer on your children’s behalf.
